Newly appointed Nepali ambassador to the United States Dr Suresh Chandra Chalise presented his credentials to US president George W Bush amid a function at White House, the official residence of the president in Washington DC, yesterday. Welcoming Dr Chalise, the US president salutaed Nepali people and government for the progress made on the ongoing transition to democracy and commended PM Girija Prasad Koirala's role in leading political parties towards constituent assembly polls, a press release issued by the Nepalese Embassy in Washington said. On the occasion, Bush said the US encourages the government and Maoists to work together to hold CA polls on time. He also spoke about the need to address the concerns of the Madhesis and other marginalized groups, the release said. The US president also reiterated support to Nepal''s journey towards democracy and assured that his country would continue to work with Nepal government and the international community to foster environment conducive for peace.
