Press Release: Power of Persistence and Hope: A Pathway to Success

An interactive talk program entitled “Power of Persistence and Hope: A Pathway to Success” was successfully organized on Jan 31, 2009 at Fairfax City Regional Library in Fairfax, VA by the Noble Initiative for Community Empowerment (NICE) and KnowledgeNet. This event was unique and the organizers have brought three accomplished academic, business and social entrepreneurs of Nepalese origin who live in Canada, USA and Nepal. Prakash Nepal, founder of NICE started the session in informal way, different than any other events in the area, by introducing key speakers and Jiwan Giri from KnowledgeNet provided the overview of this interactive program, its objectives, and expected benefits to event participants. The key message from this event is to broaden our thinking cap and develop “Yes, We Can Do” attitude towards reaching our goal in life.

In this moment of depressing economy, career crisis and personal disappointments, there are always someone who discover innovative ideas and rewarding hope to alleviate the sufferings and to create a pathway to success in one venture after another.

Dr. Pramod Dhakal of Canada Forum for Nepal shared his perspectives on success. He mentioned that success lives in the confluence of intention, intensity, and incidence. He suggested that we should not be blinded by our past knowledge and we always need to remain free, sensitive and aware so that we could discover new ideas and new visions. Once a vision is set, we should embrace it as part of our life, constantly thinking, dreaming, and listening to everything that relates to it. Once learning, thinking, and inventing becomes our habit, we would be self-improving continuously and success follows our footsteps.

Another speaker Dr. Ramesh K. Sunar inspired the audiences through his own personal stories of facing adversities due to being from Dalit background and key steps he took to overcome challenges in his life. Dr. Sunar took those challenges in a positive way and turned them into academic success and in establishing a successful business venture in the US. His success came from having a clearly set vision, early planning, saving hard, and staying away from bad debt. Participants took home many other practical lessons.

Last but not the least, speaker Sahadev Mahat from Nepal entertained participants with sense of humor and piece knowledge as he calls it MANTRA—stop, look, and go. He explained that it in a simple way by using most common Nepali story that we all are familiar with—The Nyauri Mari Pachhuto. His secret piece MANTRA and his steps for making logical steps in personal and business can be a powerful message to anybody striving for achieving success.

Finally, Krishna Sob and Harish Chandra Ghimire from Nepalese Embassy concluded the session by summarizing overall importance of the messages presented by the three distinguished speakers. As said by Jiwan, this program is one of the unique events that his foundation KnowledegeNet in collaboration with individuals, NICE, and other organizations (academics, industries, and non-government organizations) aims to bring into the communities. The upcoming events would be conducted and organized in an informal way to exchange everybody’s views, ideas, issues, and concerns and come up with common solutions to addressing our common challenges and develop a persistent behavioral attitude, create goals, and work to systematically accomplish it.
